Leather Tobacco Pouch w/beadwork

Leather bag with beadwork

This is a beautifully hand crafted leather pouch on yellow tanned hide which is a natural color. It measures 2.5 inches in width and is 4 inches deep. Each stitch is done by hand and we have attempted to follow the teachings of our elders for each individual item. The beadwork that is centered on the front is hand stitched in a rosette design and placed securely on the leather.  These bags are popular with men as a place they can keep things handy.  Those of us who follow the Traditional path carry tobacco to use as an offering when we are gifted with things along our path.

Grapevine Dream Catchers

greendreamcatcher.jpg

Here is a beautiful yet simple example of a native american dream catcher. This is hand crafted with grapevine that has been shaped into a circle, hand webbed with sinew and to which a small leather pouch has been attatched. According to native traditions the dream catcher is webbed to catch the negative or bad dreams in the web, and allows the good dreams to pass through the center hole. The bad dreams are caught in the web and they melt away with the dawn of the morning sunlight. They are available in different colors and are allowed to form a natural round shape.

Lummi Traditional Fish Sticks

At the present time we are unable to provide a picture of the traditional fish sticks for bbq of Pacific Salmon.   This is a delightful way to have the best tasting meal ever.  For years the carvers of the Salish people have provided useful tools to accomplish the task of cooking in our traditional way.  When the fire has been lain with Alder wood then the fish is gently but firmly slid onto the Ironwood sticks.  These fish sticks are hand carved by traditional hands from Nooksack River Ironwood, which is the hardest and most long lasting wood.  Each set contains on dozen sticks and instructions and suggestions for use.
